As you all saw in the last post, Jessica’s 12 weeks of leave came to an end – problem being, of course, that daycare wouldn’t start for two more weeks! What are we to do? Bring in Mr. Mom!
4 and a little days through my first week of watching her, she is thankfully still alive and doing well. It has definitely been nice to see her more through the day as she is usually quite happy in the mornings. On Monday as Jess was getting ready to go we managed to get a little raspberry out of Charlotte, which I’m sure didn’t make Jess feel any better about going to work – would you want to leave such a cutie behind? And every day since it seems that Charlotte is getting more and more control over her hands and is progressing well as far as focusing on objects and even starting to look toward sounds (I think anyway).
The biggest challenge of the past week was trying to care for her but not neglect some of my work obligations. We are gearing up for the fall busy season and there are lots of new vendors that need to be activated and trained, and we are close to launching a pretty big branding project that I have been managing. If anything that was the most stressful thing. Not the diapers, not the feeding, but Excel and checking email. Fortunately my mom will be visiting next week and I’ll be able to do a few hours in the office each day, aiding in the separation of work and family. One nice thing, our office has breakfast available on Monday so I brought Charlotte, got my breakfast and passed her around between some of my coworkers before leaving around lunch. Free food is always a bonus, and I’m sure Charlotte brought people some smiles on a Monday morning.
Also this week I was able to go though the past 10 days of photos for the “Charlotte 365” project as well as edit many of the ones that we liked but weren’t the official photos of the day. You can see both updated sets at:
Stay tuned for more photos and maybe even a little video as well!

Sounds like things are going great. So excited for you guys. I had to laugh when I read your blog, I just did a post titled Mr. Mom as well. Erin started her MBA yesterday so I’m on my own for the next 10 days!
