Charlotte is 5 months old (and a bit)!!
Unofficial Stats: Weight: 13 lbs 2 oz Length: 24 inches
I can’t believe it’s been 5 months since we welcomed our peanut into the world.
New trick: Charlotte can now take the pacifier out of her mouth with one hand, transfer it to the other hand, and get it back into her mouth (although many times it turns and she tries to suck on the little handle).
New game: Charlotte giggles with glee when you hold her hands and lift her up so she stretches all the way and her little feet are off the ground.
New toy: This adorable dragon has been sitting on her dresser since she was born, but now she finds it fascinating, it sings, rattles, and has crinkly wings…who doesn’t like crinkly wings!?!?
Okay, quiz time – what do you think this was? Austin must have had a wonderful time – however it seems to be missing a critical piece…Answer at the end of the post!
Austin turns 2!! Our first born (kinda) turned 2 on October 30th. He got a peanut butter flavored frosty paw.
Charlotte’s first Halloween had it’s ups and downs, as any costumed event for an infant does. She was a taco and the whole costume was made by her mom and dad (a tradition we hope to continue). I got the idea from a taco costume a co-worker sent me when she was first born, however that was for a crawling infant, which Charlotte is not, so we had to develop our own design that allowed us to hold her and let her sit/stand on our laps. This first picture is her little halloween themed outfit #1 that went under her taco. Isn’t she cute?!?
Charlotte had a costume parade at school on the Friday before Halloween, however, she was NOT in the mood when it came time to put it on, so she stayed in her Halloween themed outfit #2 and a little jacket.
Next Charlotte and I visited daddy at his work for lunch in Halloween themed outfit #2.
She was willing to wear her taco then and was quite the hit! Isn’t she cute?!?
Finally on Sunday my moms-group had a get together and she again wore it very well. All the babies were exceedingly cute!
We tried to get a pic of all of them, but in every picture at least one was wandering off (of those that could wander – mainly the elephant, tiger, and dragon were on the move). Here’s the best pick we had. Chatrlotte was already out of her taco, but she was still Halloween themed with pumpkin hat and all!
Verdict? I think we did pretty well, especially since much of the construction happened over two evenings after she had gone to bed. We had to use one of her onsies for approximating size. Everyone said she looked good enough to eat…Charlotte thought she was pretty tasty too.
And last, but certainly not least, Charlotte’s “aunt” Wendi came down for a visit. Andrew and Wendi went to the Restore the Sanity rally on Saturday (yeah VIP passes) and then they flew down to Florida on Monday for the penultimate shuttle launch – which didn’t actually happen, so we’ll try again in February as a whole family.
Picture Quiz: A pacifier! Although the squishy chewy part was nowhere to be found…and I’m not going to go looking for it…we don’t want it back. The Austin casualty list is reasonably short so far, but it’s apparent he’s not anywhere close to being trusted in the house. I fear once Charlotte starts moving we’re going to be trapped in our house by baby gates and doggie gates every few feet!
