Charlotte and I had a lovely lunch with the moms in my new mommy group last week. 9 of the 12 mommies were able to make it and it was awesome to see all the munchkins! I still can’t believe just a few months ago we were all sitting around pregnant – daydreaming of the day we would meet our little ones face to face.
Charlotte and I got back to the house just in time to meet up with Andrew’s Aunt Marilyn and his cousin Mary Emily who were down from Staten Island. Charlotte was exhausted and as soon as she found a comfy spot, she was out like a light. Evidently Mary Emily’s elbow is extremely comfy. 🙂
We’ve also been steadily working on tummy time. Charlotte prefers to work on standing on your lap, she’s got amazingly strong little legs, but that doesn’t help her arms very much and doesn’t help with learning how to roll over either. Charlotte is not a fan of tummy time – which I think is common for munchkins her age.
But we work on it every day anyway. Sometimes we use the boppy, which helps, but she still tires out very quickly.
I’ve also FINALLY finished Charlotte’s bedroom door sign. The materials had been taunting me for weeks. Her Aunt Nicole was kind enough to cut out the backing. The big dragonfly is the same as the ones on the wall over her crib, and the little metal dragonflies are actually from the favors from my baby shower. I thought that was a nice touch.
I can’t believe how quickly this time has flown by. Charlotte is 10 weeks now and that means I’ve only got two more weeks at home with her. I know I’m going to miss her SOOOO much. I’ve gotten used to witnessing all her little developments and all those little micro expressions that flit across her face during her naps. I know time is going to speed up and that I need to savor these last two weeks and make them really count.
Andrew will be home with her for two weeks after I return to work. I’m sure the first couple days will be exhausting, but I also know he’ll be so glad he had this time with her – just the two of them. I’m sure we’ll have a plethora of photos from his weeks at home – more than usual!
