We had an excellent Halloween! Charlotte was a blueberry – her very favorite food. The costume was made entirely by us and we’re pretty proud of the result!
Charlotte had a very busy Halloween – We marched in the Del Ray Halloween Parade and played at a local playground on Sunday the 30th and then her daycare had a costume parade to the Assisted Living Center next door on the 31st.
There were probably a dozen Elmos and Spidermen, but as far as I could tell, when folks said “Look at the cute little blueberry” they were talking about our little blueberry!
And to top it off I carved a pumpkin (something I haven’t done in probably a decade!). Below – my ode to the iPhone app Cut the Rope and the candy eating little monster “Om Nom.” Not too shabby. 🙂

Hello! I came across your blog when I was searching blueberry costumes for my daughter! I am in love with this it is so adorable! My daughter loves blueberries as well and I want her to be one for Halloween. Could you give me some direction on how you made this?? I would so appreciate it. Thank you!!

Hi!! I have been searching everywhere for a genuine blueberry costume. Can you point me in the right direction or tell me how you made this costume? We are doing a family Willy Wonka theme and would like a blueberry costume done for the 18 month old.

Hi – I used a costume pattern for a pumpkin and just changed the fabric (and slightly modified the pumpkin hat by adding a little black lace and a green pipecleaner for the stem. I used Simplicity’s pattern 2788 toddler costume. It was pretty easy. We used a blue/purple velour fabric so that it was soft and a little stretchy. Good Luck!

Brilliant work! How did you line/stuff it? Did you follow the directions and use the fleece lining, or did you stuff it with polyfill? Working on the pattern now and hoping for a really poofy result.

Sorry for then long delay in responding – lost my login! We used polyfill to make it puffy. It kept her pretty warm and was easy for her to sit down in too.
